WHAT IS THE STUDIO GHIBLI?
This small team of producers, spends years crafting each wonderful story, bringing tales of adventure, love, and friendship to life through thousands of hand-drawn paintings. From My Neighbor Totoro to Ponyo, each of these enchanting films allows viewers to immerse themselves in worlds of fantasy.
Studio Ghibli was founded by the animator, director, producer, screenwriter, author, and manga artist Hayao Miyazaki; japanese film director Isao Takahata; and the producer Toshio Suzuki. In the last 46 years, they have created 20 feature films (and counting), in addition to several short films and television commercials.

THE BEGINNINGS OF STUDIO GHIBLI
Takahata and Miyazaki met in the 1960s when they were working for the Japanese animation studio Tôei Dôga. Although they collaborated for more than a decade, it was until mid 80's They decided to start their own company. In 1985, with funding from the publishing house Tokuma Shoten, Takahata, Miyazaki y Suzuki They founded Studio Ghibli, a small production studio in the suburbs of Tokyo.
The first feature film of this trio, was Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, a post-apocalyptic fantasy adventure based on a manga of the same name published by Miyazaki. Released under the name Tokuma Shoten, the film was a success and prompted the small team to begin their next production.
WHY IS IT CALLED STUDIO GHIBLI?
The name “Ghibli”refers to the Italian word "For the hot wind of the Sahara". The name is more than appropriate given that the study wanted "Give a new air to the anime industry". The filmmaker was inspired by the Caproni Ca.309 Ghibli, a surveillance aircraft that was designed in Italy during World War II.

Hayao Miyazaki: Why didn't you want to receive your first Oscar?
Definitely, Studio Ghibli made its mark on world animated cinema with visually rich and symbolic productions. And, that recognition led him to be victorious in a large number of awards; However, Miyashiro was not a participant in the first recognition of the Oscars and the reason he said was the following:
“The reason I didn't attend the Oscars was because I didn't want to visit a country that was bombing Iraq. At that time, my producer shut me up and wouldn't let me say that, but I don't see him around here today. By the way, he also shared that feeling."
Hayao Miyasaki (2009)
OSCAR HONORED HAYAO MIYASAKI
On November 9, 2014, the Hollywood Academy presented the honorary Oscar to Maureen O'Hara, Hayao Miyazaki , Jean-Claude Carrière and Harry Belafonte, in an intimate gala in the Ray Dolby room, of the Hollywood and Highland Center. Miyazaki had a second chance to attend the Oscars in 2014, when he received an honorary award.
“My wife says that I am a very lucky man. And I think I have been lucky because I have been able to participate in this era, with films made on paper and pencil. Another lucky fact is that my country has not had to go to war in the 50 years that I've been making movies. He has benefited from the war, but we have been lucky not to have had to go to fight ”, he declared in his speech.
